Client Spotlight: Facebook New York (FBNY) Café Gives Little Soya a Big ‘Like’!

FBNY

It’s official: Little Soya is in a relationship with Facebook.

It’s our great pleasure to announce that Little Soya is officially the gluten-free soy sauce of choice in the brand new FBNY Café at Facebook New York headquarters. The excellent culinary team led by Chef Dean Spinks , Facebook’s Executive Chef responsible for providing meals for thousands of employees worldwide at all of the company’s cafes, at FBNY Café absolutely loves Little Soya, using it as a featured ingredient in a couple of delicious dishes.

Our very own Crystal Lee recently attended the grand opening happy hour at FBNY Café, and she had the opportunity to sample some of the tasty delights created using Little Soya gluten-free soy sauce.

First up were the pork buns marinated in Little Soya. This dish is a must for fans of Chinese BBQ pork and soft steamed Chinese buns, delicately balancing sweet and savory in every mouthwatering bite.

For those craving something a little lighter, FBNY Café also features Chipotle Little Soya Ahi Tuna Tartare Tacos (try saying that 5 times fast!). This creation from Chef Spinks is an absolute delight in every way, and the Little Soya really helps bring all of the flavors together in an unforgettable way.

FBNY Café is the latest dining spot to open at Facebook’s various offices across the globe. The dining scene has always been an important part of Facebook’s office culture, bringing employees together for fun, fellowship, and even some brainstorming while satisfying their taste buds and filling up their bellies. The company’s New York office has grown a lot over the last couple of years, and its all new FBNY Café is the latest step in giving the New York branch its own local flavor and identity. All of us here at Little Soya couldn’t be more honored to be a part of it!

Little Soya Featured in Good Housekeeping Magazine!

Little Soya Good Housekeeping

We are so honored that Good Housekeeping magazine featured Little Soya in their monthly Editors’ Picks section entitled “That’s Genius!”

The magazine said that our cute, convenient on-the-go gluten-free soy sauce packets are perfect to drop in your purse for a sushi night out, and we agree! The durable plastic container with a resealable cap won’t leak or burst in your purse, and it contains a single-serving of the most delicious gluten-free soy sauce in the universe! It’s the perfect way to say goodbye to the overly salty, nasty soy sauce so many restaurants have on their tables.

How It All Happened

It all started during the summer when Good Housekeeping magazine’s new Executive Editor Meaghan B Murphy (follow here on Twitter here) tweeted that she wished there was a good travel-sized gluten-free soy sauce available.

LS Tweet 1

Umami to the rescue! We opened Meaghan’s eyes to the amazingness of our little fishy containers, and sent her some samples of Little Soya, because tasting is believing.

Needless to say, it didn’t take long for her to become a Little Soya fan! We warned her, it’s addictive!

LS Tweet 2

Fast forward a few months, and Little Soya found its way onto the pages of Good Housekeeping magazine. We’ve been overwhelmed by the response from their readers, and we’ve even put up a special page on our website for those who discovered us through the magazine.

Thank You, Good Housekeeping!

We’re so grateful to Meaghan B Murphy and the entire team at Good Housekeeping magazine for showing Little Soya some love. From the bottom of our hearts, thanks!

We encourage you all to pick up a copy of the October 2014 issue of Good Housekeeping, and follow Good Housekeeping on Twitter.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Little Soya

5-gallon LS

Whether you’ve just discovered the universe’s greatest gluten-free soy sauce or you’ve consumed so much Little Soya that it’s pumping through your veins giving you superpowers, we’re willing to bet there are some things you still don’t know about our premium soy sauce. So, listen up because class is in session. It’s time to reveal 5 facts about Little Soya that you probably didn’t know.

  1. There’s a “Chef Grade” version of Little Soya—When you think of Little Soya, you probably picture our cute, convenient, one-of-a-kind fish-shaped packets (more on those later) that line store shelves across the country, but did you know that we also offer a “Chef Grade” version of our soy sauce? Our “Chef Grade” soy sauce is a little lighter in color and flavor and also a touch saltier than what comes in our infamous fish-shaped packets. That’s because the “Chef Grade” version is designed to be used as a cooking ingredient rather than a condiment. Chefs, click here to find out how you can get a free sample of our gluten-free soy sauce.
  2. Little Soya won an award for its unique packaging—One of the things that sets Little Soya apart is our unique, single-use, fish-shaped packets. Not only are they just plain cool and cute, but they’re highly functional. Unlike traditional tear-open soy sauce condiment packets that make a mess, our fish-shaped packets are leak-proof, resealable, and easy to use. That’s why Little Soya was a 2012 sofi Awards Silver Finalist for Outstanding Innovation in Packaging Design or Function.
  3. It’s not just Asian restaurants that are using Little Soya—Soy sauce and Asian cuisine go hand in hand, but Little Soya isn’t just preferred by Asian-inspired chefs. Our gluten-free soy sauce is used in restaurants serving all types of cuisine. In fact, about half of the restaurants using Little Soya are a mix of American, BBQ, Mexican, Peruvian, Italian, and Indian restaurants.
  4. Little Soya has become a popular cocktail ingredient—It’s no secret that Little Soya can elevate just about any dish, but you might not know that our gluten-free, less-sodium soy sauce is also a featured ingredient in some of the tastiest cocktails you’ve ever had. From the Michelada created by the geniuses at Houston’s The Pastry War to The Little Soya Cobbler featuring byejoe (an ultra-premium baiju, China’s most popular traditional alcohol), these cocktails prove that Little Soya really is “So Good You Can Drink It!”
  5. Little Soya is the first gluten-free soy sauce in space—Little Soya isn’t just the best gluten-free soy sauce in the world; it’s the best gluten-free soy sauce in the universe! On July 29 2014 at 6:47 pm (CDT), Little Soya made history by becoming the first gluten-free soy sauce to be launched into space. Right now, the astronauts on the International Space Station could be enjoying our delicious gluten-free, less sodium soy sauce! How cool is that?

Be honest: Did you know any of these 5 facts about Little Soya?

Here’s how we like to make them:

LITTLE SOYA SIZZLING BEEF FAJITAS

3 pounds outside skirt steak

1/3 cup margarine

2 medium Spanish onions, cut into 1/4-inch julienne slices

4 medium green peppers, cut into 1/4-inch julienne slices

1 teaspoon seasoning salt

1 pound tomatoes, cut into wedges

Lemon wedges

MARINADE

2 1/2 cups Little Soya gluten-free soy sauce

1 1/4 cups water

1 1/4 cups white vinegar

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1 teaspoon white pepper

Combine soy sauce, water, vinegar, garlic and pepper in large container. Whip with wire whisk until well mixed.

INSTRUCTIONS

Place meat in shallow pan. Pour Little Soya marinade over and let marinate in refrigerator 3 hours.

Remove meat from Little Soya marinade and cut into 1/2×3-inch strips. Melt margarine in large skillet. Add onions, green peppers and seasoning salt and sauté until vegetables are tender.

Place meat in large cast-iron skillet and sear over medium heat. Remove from skillet when browned. Place another iron skillet upside down over high flame. Heat almost to point of smoking, about 90 seconds.

Remove hot serving skillet from burner and pile with meat strips and vegetables. Place tomato wedges over meat and vegetables. Garnish with lemon wedges. Makes 6 servings.

Variation: For Chicken Fajitas, use 3 pounds chicken breasts. Marinate and cut according to recipe for beef fajitas. Prepare as for beef, but baste chicken with sauce while sautéing.

1 1/4 cups orange juice

1 teaspoon granulated garlic

Dash oregano

Gluten-Free Diets for Kids

Celiac disease currently affects about 1 in 133 people. That’s roughly 1% of the population. Unfortunately, about 83% of Americans, including kids, who have celiac disease are undiagnosed or misdiagnosed with other conditions. For kids with celiac, even consuming the smallest amount of gluten can lead to big trouble, making digestion difficult, blocking nutrient absorption, and leading to a host of unpleasant side effects.

A 100% gluten-free diet is the only known existing treatment for celiac today. So, if you suspect your child has celiac disease, go see a doctor and considering the benefits of switching your little one to a gluten-free diet.

There are tons of great gluten-free recipe ideas for kids, and Little Soya’s gluten-free soy sauce is always the perfect complement to a healthy diet.

More Than Just Gluten-Free…Inspiring Creative Lunch Ideas for Kids!

Even if your child isn’t on a gluten-free diet, Little Soya’s cute little fish packets can inspire some really fun and tasty lunchbox ideas for your kids.

We really love this simple lunch box sushi recipe from Sandra’s Easy Cooking. It’s a great change of pace from the typical, boring sandwich, and a fun, tasty way for your kids to get their fruits and veggies. Add a packet of Little Soya to the mix, and your kids will be the envy of the cafeteria! (Tip: Don’t have the time or patience to make sushi? You can get pre-made sushi from your local grocery store and pack it with an ice pack in the lunch bag so it will last until lunch time. Don’t forget the Little Soya!)

Or if your kid isn’t a sushi lover, how about this neat idea from Lunch Box Blues? It’s brown rice, sausage, and soy sauce with a side of star fruit, blueberries, and a peanut butter sandwich on graham crackers. Talk about delicious!

This is how You Celebrate Your Soy Sauce Getting Launched into Space!

For months now, the buzz has been building for Little Soya’s launch on the Ariane 5, ATV-5 spacecraft delivering supplies to astronauts and cosmonauts on the International Space Station. When it finally came time for Little Soya to make history by becoming the first gluten-free soy sauce to blast off into space, we celebrated in grand fashion with not one but TWO launch parties. Hey, it’s not every day you get to launch your product into space, so we busted out the big guns and let the good times roll!

Pre-Launch Party at Hughes Hangar

With the launch originally scheduled for the evening of Thursday, July 24, we made plans for a huge bash at Hughes Hangar on the popular Washington Ave. in Houston, Texas. As the launch date approached, we received word for the ESA in Paris that actual launch would be postponed a few days for various reasons, but that didn’t stop us from throwing one heck of a pre-launch party!

The event drew a huge crowd of Little Soya fans, media members, and of course, Little Soya employees and their loved ones. All were there to celebrate Little Soya’s historic achievement as well as to enjoy a keynote speech from a real NASA astronaut. The festivity was covered by local ABC News, Houston Chronicle, local Channel 55, and a host of other media outlets.

Check out some awesome photos from the event below taken by Danny Nguyen at www.ssanceman.com.
