Business is Booming!

Grow-your-business

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update about our growth… we have been growing non-stop since 2011. We are now about 95% focused on the food service sector with large national food service distributors like Sysco, US Foods, Chefs Warehouse, Ben E Keith, European Imports and Bi-Rite.

We now have 1000+ clients including restaurants, hotels, hospitals, universities, schools, resorts, cruise ships, airlines and now we are even the official soy sauce used on the International Space Station!

My how we’ve grown! To think, we got our start just selling regular sodium fish packets at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for all room service and buffet. Now we have distribution in New York City, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Austin, Atlanta, Portland and more!

Little Soya is now the most requested soy sauce by top chefs in the US! Chefs are using Little Soya for just about everything. Marinades, salad dressings, fish sauce, ponzu sauce, mushroom sauce, teriyaki sauce, even desserts! (Little Soya carmelized with bananas, served at Nobu on Hudson in NY). Chefs love us and we love them too!

Let’s talk Super Foods!

So even though we use Little Soya on just about everything, we know we’ve got to include a few other foods into our diet sometimes. 😉  So let’s talk about Super Foods! We’ve all heard about them, but what are they and what do they really do for you?

su·per·food
ˈso͞opərˌfo͞od/
noun: superfood; plural noun: superfoods

a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being.

Though there is no legal or medical definition, superfoods are nutrient powerhouses that pack large doses of antioxidants, polyphenols, vitamins, and minerals. Eating them may reduce the risk of chronic disease and prolong life.

5 Superfoods that we love!

  1. Garlic – It’s literally good for EVERYTHING… well maybe not your perfume but definitely everything else! Nature’s antibiotic! Garlic is an anti-fungal, antibacterial, anti-allergenic and it not only combats colds, reduces blood pressure and lowers risk of heart disease but Garlic is great for cooking.2423074_orig
  2. Berries, Berries, Berries! – Of all the super foods, berries probably get the most accolades. There is even a berry called a Miracle Berry… what other super food gets that title? Berries are loaded with vitamin c, anthocyanins, flavanoids, polyphenols, minerals and vitamins. They can aid with heart disease, skin conditions, viral infections and cancer. Some of our favorites are Acai, Blueberry, Goji, Maqui and Noni. Also, they are sweet and delicious.Colorful Berries, Prince William Sound, Chugach National Forest, Alaska.
  3. Raw Cacao (Organic only) -The Amazonian Antioxidant Powerhouse! Regular chocolate has been chemically roasted and processed and if’s not organic, you can almost guarantee it was picked from cacao plants that contained pesticides and GMO’s. YUCK. But when you get the good stuff, it’s really really good. Not only is it a significant source Iron, Magnesium, Calcium and Antioxidants… it’s a mood elevator and anti-depressant. Sold.raw-cacao-1
  4. Capscaicin – For when you need a little spice in your life. Capscaicin is the active component of peppers and it is what’s responsible for packing the heat! This little (but powerful) chemical compound is known to help with headaches, arthritis, is a sinus decongestant, lowers cholesterol, regulates blood sugar, boost metabolism and has a ton of Vitamin A and C. As a bonus, when you eat hot peppers your body releases endorphins to counteract the pain. This process results in a bit of a “high” or “rush” during and after eating spicy foods. In fact, ancient Aztec and Mayan civilizations considered chilli peppers to be an aphrodisiac. Bonus!cap_pepper_qschnitt
  5. Cold Pressed Virgin Coconut Oil – There are just so many benefits to this stuff. You can use it for your body (internally or externally), you can use it in your cooking, baking and even raw foods. You can make soaps with it or even soften and condition real leather. CPVGO does it all! This superfood supports the immune system, has strong anti-fungal properties and targets bad bacteria while also being amazing for all types of skin beauty treatments as well as aiding with skin disorders. We love you Coconut oil!coconut-oil-spoonful

This list is just some of our own personal favorite Super Foods and the reasons why we love them. You may have your own opinions for or against and we’d love to hear them. Comment and let us know your faves!!

Summer Fun With Little Soya!

Summer is here, and if you are like any of us here at Little Soya, you have tons of Little Fishes lying around, just waiting for the perfect use! Well, you are in luck! Brenda of Team Little Soya has come up with 2 totally awesome, not to mention totally green, ways to re-use those mountains of fishes!

Little Soya Ice Cubes

The first way she uses her empty fishes is as ICE CUBES! It’s super easy to make ice that is “adult beverage friendly”, meaning it won’t water it down! Just fill your fishes with water, or even colored water to make em’ a little more fun, freeze ’em, and add ’em to your drinks! They won’t melt and water down your drinks, and when they aren’t frozen anymore, just pop them back into the freezer!

Blue Little Soya Ice CubesLittle Soya Ice Cubes

The second, and most fun use for Little Fishes, POOL TOYS!  This one takes a little more time, and a few more fishes, but it’s totally worth it!  Make some colored water by adding a few drops of food coloring to some cups of water, squeeze your empty fish, dunk it, then release it to fill up the fish with the colored water!

Colored Fishes

They will float in the water, and the kids had so much fun!

Fresh produce. All natural ingredients. Real food. Real flavor.
Bravado Spice started when company owners, James Nelson and Jeremiah Tallerine, decided they wanted to make hot sauce that was above and beyond what was available. Sang Sang Asian Sauce is for sure one of our faves!

Little Soya partnered with Muiishi Makirritos to create a special artist inpired Universe Is Flux Sushi Roll for attendees to munch on. Our roll was a huge hit! It was a shame to have to tell everyone we didn’t actually make the sushi!!

Matt, Muiishi Makirritos chef, taught Brenda how to cut the rolls and how to display them, she loves to cook so this was right up her alley! HP, who is affectionately known to Brenda’s kids as “The Soy Sauce Man”, spent the night talking with all of our fans and creating new ones with samples of delicious Little Soya to go with their sushi rolls.

National Restaurant Association Show Was A Huge Success!

Little Soya attended the National Restaurant Association show in Chicago from May 18th to the 21st.
We arrived in Chicago and setup all of our booth equipment. McCormick Place convention center is insanely huge! Definitely one of the largest centers we have ever been to.
The first day of the show started great. Our booth was located in the Alternative Bitestyles section of the show next to many of the other healthier food options.
8

Throughout the show we made a lot of great contacts and met some fans as well. We had a lot of chefs, managers and owners of restaurants coming by. We all took turns walking around and checking out the other vendors. It’s very difficult to try and see everything because of the sheer size of this thing.

photo 1

The third day of the show started out very busy. A lot of chefs and restaurants have off on Mondays so we could see a boost in traffic from this. We got more business cards, gave out more samples to chefs and spread the good word about Little Soya 5 Gallon for Food Service. Udi from the very popular gluten free company called Udi’s even came by our booth and Gary got a picture with him and his son.

photo

After the show was over, we packed up our booth and got everything ready to be shipped back. We had opened two of the 5 gallon containers so instead of trying to ship them back, we decided to give them to two of the restaurants we had met with to allow them to try out Little Soya and they absolutely loved us for doing so.

Overall, we made a lot of great contacts and initiated the process of opening up the Chicago market for Little Soya. We are looking forward to coming back soon!
